During our recent trip to Ban Pa Ao we learned that the master craftsman Loong Boonmee — the person through whom Ban Pa Ao production flows, and the sixth generation of his family to practice this craft — has been seriously unwell.
For nearly two months, he has been unable to work. While he is still waiting on his final medical diagnosis, what is certain is that this is a fragile moment for the Ban Pa Ao community and their craft legacy. Without their leader present in the workshop each day, production slows and the responsibility of managing materials and orders becomes more difficult.
For the next two weeks, we are hosting a limited release of small Ban Pa Ao brass accessories. All proceeds beyond production costs will go toward supporting Loong Boonmee’s medical care and purchasing the raw materials — brass, wax, clay, and resin — required to keep the workshop operating during this transition. It is our hope that this collective support will help the community bridge this moment while their leader focuses on his healthcare.
