THE MIRAZZO MIRROR
OUR CONTEMPORARY TAKE ON THAI TERRAZZO
During our recent showroom opening exhibition we were thrilled to introduce a new addition to our collection: the Mirazzo Mirror. Designed by our founder, Robert Sukrachand, this mirror is a continuation of his long-standing fascination with Thai terrazzo street furniture—a material deeply embedded in the urban landscape of Thailand.
The Mirazzo Mirror’s are a natural extension of a collection of furniture first designed in 2019. During a trip to Bangkok, Robert was wandering the streets of Old Town when suddenly the familiar public benches, chess tables, and three-legged stools of Bangkok were seen with fresh eyes: this was Thai Terrazzo. A technique invented by the Italians was newly recognizable in this everyday, un-precious Thai street furniture.
These early works (seen above) incorporated large chunks of defective colored glass leftover from production of the Gem + Volume Mirror collections Robert used to produce in Brooklyn. The Mirazzo Mirror is an evolution of this theme, where mirrored glass is now wrapped in a mosaic of Thai marble and small stone aggregate.
Each Mirazzo Mirror is crafted using large stone aggregate, sourced
from a roadsidevendor in Pak Chong province. Each marble chunk -
carefully selected from a two-ton pile of stone - is chosen
for its unique color and shape.
The process continues at Thamrongchai Terrazzo, a family-owned
workshop in Bangkok with over five decades of experience producing
architectural terrazzo.
Here, artisans meticulously arrange the stones into a circular composition
before casting the mirror in a cement and micro-stone aggregate mixture,
finishing with a smooth, matte polish—a balance of raw materiality and
refined craftsmanship.

Terrazzo has long been a creative way for Thai artisans to make use of leftover materials, giving discarded marble and stone a second life. The Mirazzo Mirror follows this tradition, embracing sustainability through material reuse, while celebrating the organic textures and rich history of terrazzo craftsmanship.

The Mirazzo Mirror is now available for purchase, and we’ll be creating
new versions in different color combinations and shapes.
